A partial 911 outage on April 18, 2024 affected emergency call services across South Dakota, Nebraska, and Missouri. The disruption was traced to light pole installation activity in Missouri that inadvertently damaged CenturyLink/Lumen network infrastructure. Douglas County, Nebraska (Omaha area) was among the areas affected, with residents temporarily unable to reach 911.
