Microsoft Azure DDoS-Amplified Service Disruption

On July 30, 2024, Microsoft Azure experienced a significant service disruption. Post-incident analysis by ThousandEyes and The Register identified a DDoS attack as a contributing factor, but Azure’s DDoS protection implementation contained a misconfiguration that amplified the impact rather than mitigating it. The incident affected Azure customers globally.
