350 Cermak Data Center Fire — Chicago

A fire broke out at 350 Cermak, one of Chicago’s primary carrier hotels and a critical network hub for the Midwest, in August 2024. The building at 350 W. Cermak Road in Chicago’s South Loop hosts numerous network operators, ISPs, and enterprise colocation customers, making it a significant interconnection point.

The fire caused disruptions to operations for tenants in affected portions of the building. The incident was covered by CBS Chicago and DataCenterDynamics.
